Cory Bowl Game 1 Today

Today is the big day! Today is the day of the inaugural game of the Cory Bowl, from Dorsey Field in Hillsborough, NJ, just 10 minutes outside of Bridgewater. Today's weather in Hillsborough will reach highs of over 90ºF (32ºC)! Nothing like Memorial Day football in 90-degree weather! Stay tuned to the CMB Sports app for the scores!

2011 Stanley Cup Final

The 2011 Stanley Cup Final, Vancouver vs. Boston, will be starting this week. Who do you think will win?

Lightning Fall In First 2 Games

The Lightning have been unlucky in the Cory Cup in general, going 3-10 in the first two seasons. But now, that record has fallen to 3-12, as the Super Dads prevail in the first two games of the 2011 Cory Cup at Towaco's CMB Arena, 24-18 in game 1, and 29-13 in game 2. Although the Lightning's chances of winning their first best-of-7 Cory Cup have been diminished, Game 1 of the inaugural Cory Bowl has been scheduled for May 30, which also happens to be Memorial day. Keep checking out the CMB Sports mobile site for the scores, schedules, news, photos, team archives, and more.

Cory Cup Rule Changes

CMB Sports has announced some rule changes for the Cory Cup, mostly on timing. In 2010, it was four quarters, 5 minutes each. We are removing one period to make it three, just like regular hockey. But if we were to do that, we would also have to extend the period length, so now, the 3 periods are 10 minutes each, for a total of 30 minutes, half of a professional hockey game. Our second rule change also involves time. We have realized that over the course of the game, there are many stoppages of play during the game, which makes the game a lot longer. To eliminate that, we are now going to let time run after goals, but since that takes away time, we have decided to have a timer that counts how long it has been in between plays, and every time it gets to one minute, we add one minute to the game clock, that way we can play 30 minutes of hockey without many play stoppages. The clock will be stopped after goals in the final two minutes to preserve time. When there is one minute left, the stoppage time, no matter how long or how short it is, will be added. Our third rule change is very simple. Both teams get five timeouts in the course of a game, each one 30 seconds long. The clock stops during timeouts, and time is added to the clock if necessary. Teams may only call timeout if their team was the last team to touch the puck. Our fourth rule change is the length of intermissions. Intermissions are 3 minutes long and they are in between periods. The intermission in between regulation and overtime is 1 minute. Our fifth rule change involves penalty time. Penalty time is one minute for holding, goaltender interference, roughing, boarding, slashing, slap shots, and high sticking. Two minutes for fighting and for anything that causes blood. If a team scores a power play goal, the game returns to full strength. When there is a 1 on 1, no matter how many goals are scored, the game continues in 1 on 1 until penalty time is over. When a team is shorthanded and commits another penalty, the penalty time will be served after the penalty time ends. If a penalty is committed in the offensive zone (inside blue line), the team can choose to have a power play or a penalty shot. Our last rule change involves overtime and shootout. Overtime is 2 minutes long and whoever has the most goals after overtime ends wins. If, at any time, a team leads by 2 in the overtime, the game ends and that team wins. If the game is tied after OT, the game goes to shootout. NHL shootout rules apply. These rules start on April 21, with the start of the 2011 season.
